Fort Arabesque Resorts, Spa & Villas are officially certified a Green Hotel


Last year, management made a commitment to contribute to the efforts carried out by Millions of establishments and individuals worldwide to protect our planet. In doing so, the Fort entered the “Green Star Hotel” rating system.


This required the commitment for sustainability by management and all employees to accomplish high environmental performance and qualify needed for the certification. Besides passing the “Green Star Hotel” capacity building program, Fort Arabesque had to accomplish all the mandatory criteria 100%. Further environmental and social actions and innovative environmental practices were additionally credited. It all started by implementing simple and cost-effective initiatives by managing energy consumption, conserving water, and installing energy-efficient ballast and lighting throughout The Fort. Plastic products are eliminated to the minimum, and bathroom amenities have been replaced with dispensers.


Take-away plastic bags have been replaced with bio-degradable material, and guests are urged to ban plastic water bottles. Laundry bags have been replaced with degradable material and recycling plastic, paper, aluminum, glass, and other consumable products. The Fort Arabesque has also invested in a solar system that will run the resort on clean energy and installed a natural gas system and upgrading of the hardware, including the installation of sophisticated fire and safety systems.


A new well has been dug with an expansion in the water treatment plant, and a brand-new laundry -with state-of-the-art machines- is now in operation. After all efforts and practices were examined and verified by an independent audit commission, the Fort Arabesque Resorts, Spa & Villas was officially certified as a “Green Star Hotel.”


The award described the Fort Arabesque as a very environmentally friendly resort engaging continuously in protecting the environment and nature.
